Of Music:
Whatever your taste in music there should be something to interest you over a muster weekend. Music creates a focal point where people can converse, drink and of course sing! There is always a good atmosphere around a Blackwell's campsite, music and singing often add to the evening's entertainment. Blackwell's has a history of being a musical regiment with diverse instruments being heard around the campfire. Many evenings turn into a good singaround where everyone can join in the chorous - you soon pick it up. Musicians are encouraged regardless of the instrument or their ability! Songs vary from folk, sea shanties, comedy & Victorian musical hall songs, freedom songs and of course battle songs of different periods.
Over a major muster weekend regiments march to the sound of the drum and some have fifers as additional accompaniment. There are authentic regimental anthems from the Roundheads dreary 'Come all ye Nations' to Blackwells rousing 'Emanuel'. If that wasn't enough the beer tent at major musters normally put on entertainment in the form of a folk-rock band - always loud, always heaving and great fun!
